V-bottom followed by a bear flag / descending consolidation

Searched the web · 1 note

I don't have a live feed for candle-by-candle NSE data, so I pulled the anchor points I could verify and reconstructed the shape from those. Here's what the ~90 days look like.

The sequence

TCS was already in a downtrend when Anthropic released Claude Fable 5 on June 9, which triggered a fresh wave of AI-disruption selling across Indian IT - the Nifty IT index was down 26% for the year at that point. TCS slipped 2% to a fresh 52-week low of ₹2,110 on June 11, then kept sliding to ₹1,976.80, which remains the 52-week low. It bottomed around late June / early July and was still basing at ₹2,049-2,069 on July 10-13, right after Q1 results. From there it ran hard: between July 20 and August 19 the stock peaked at ₹2,495 and averaged ₹2,353. Since that peak it's been fading - ₹2,361 on Aug 14, ₹2,302 on Aug 21, ₹2,284 on Aug 24, ₹2,270 on Aug 26.

Business Today

TCS daily - approximate anchor points, Jun-Aug 2026 (₹)

The exact date for the ₹2,495 peak isn't something I could pin down, so treat the spacing as loose - the shape is right, the timing in the middle is inferred.

What the pattern reads as

The cleanest label for this is a V-bottom followed by a bear flag / descending consolidation. A capitulation low at ₹1,977, a sharp counter-trend rally of about 26% into early August, then a failed breakout and a series of lower highs (2,495 → 2,361 → 2,321 → 2,307) with price now drifting sideways-to-down in a tight ₹2,258-2,320 band.

The pullback is currently sitting between the 38.2% and 50% Fibonacci retracements of the June-August rally (₹2,297 and ₹2,236). That's a normal, healthy retracement zone, not a breakdown - which is exactly why the pattern is ambiguous. It resolves as a bull flag if buyers step in here, or as a distribution top if ₹2,194 gives way.

I'd be cautious about calling it an inverse head-and-shoulders. That label was floated on TradingView Ideas posts, but on this 90-day window there's only one clear low, not the three-trough structure the pattern needs.

Levels that matter

Resistance: ₹2,360-2,380 (the mid-August shelf), then ₹2,495 (the swing high - a close above it would break the lower-high sequence). Support: ₹2,258-2,270 (current floor), ₹2,194 (August low), ₹2,050-2,070 (July base), ₹1,977 (52-week low).

The wider context is still bearish - the stock is roughly 32% below its 52-week high of ₹3,350, down about 25% year-on-year, and TradingView's moving-average composite reads strong sell. So the July-August move is best framed as a bounce inside a downtrend until it proves otherwise.

Two caveats: my anchor points are sparse enough that I can't rule out intraday structure I'm missing, so pull the actual OHLC series before you act on this. And I'm not a financial advisor - this is a description of price structure, not a recommendation.

What was missing

  • No live NSE candle feed - it said so in its first line
  • Chart reconstructed from roughly eight hand-picked anchor points
  • No volume anywhere in the answer
  • No RSI, no moving averages computed
  • Signs off telling you to “pull the actual OHLC series before you act”

Credit where due

  • Unusually honest about its own limits
  • Sound structural read of what it could see
  • Caught the Fibonacci retracement zone

Four of the best models on the planet, all asked the same thing. Two drew nothing at all. One drew a line of closing prices. One admitted it had no candle feed and sketched the shape from eight anchor points. Three read their indicator values off somebody else's webpage - and two of those were out of date. The honest verdict

Keep your ChatGPT or Claude subscription for everything else - they are better at it. But for reading Indian markets, in your language, with the filing attached and a bill your accountant accepts, ₹99 does a job none of them is built to do. That is roughly one twentieth of what you already pay them.

Read this before you pay

Kwala will never tell you what to buy. That is the point.

A platform that hands out buy calls has to be right about your money, your timeline and your risk - none of which it knows. So Kwala does the other job properly: it puts the public record in front of you, in your language, with the source attached, and leaves the decision where it belongs.

Ask AI Research Chat for a recommendation, a price target or a model portfolio and it is built to decline and hand you the underlying data instead. That is the product working as intended, not a limitation we are apologising for.

What the filing shows

  • Revenue rose in six of the seven quarter-on-quarter moves shown, and the latest quarter is the highest in the period.
  • Operating margin widened from 12.6% to 14.2%, which the filing attributes to a lower input-cost base.
  • Borrowings fell year on year - debt to equity moved from 0.58 to 0.42.

Figures shown are illustrative and belong to a fictional company, included only to demonstrate the format. Kwala summarises publicly filed statements and explains what each measure means. It does not rate, rank, score, or recommend any security, and comparisons to a sector median are descriptive only.

No. Kwala Intel is an educational and informational research platform. It is not registered with SEBI or RBI, never gives personal recommendations, and nothing on the platform is investment advice.

No. Kwala labels the geometry of a formation on public price data and explains what the shape is called and how it is constructed. It never issues entry or exit points, price targets, or trade calls - naming a pattern is description, not prediction, and patterns frequently fail.
Can I trade or deposit money on Kwala?
No. There is no order placement, no exchange connectivity, and no custody of funds or assets. Any decision to transact happens entirely outside the platform, at your discretion, through providers of your choosing.
What does it cost?
